The Tim Hamilton Aesthetic

On the rave of high praises for his menswear fall 2009 collection and a 2009 CFDA nomination, Tim Hamilton brings us his first women´s collection, where he has feminised aspects of his menswear designs. His inspiration was the style of his own mother, who was Lebanese and who Hamilton defines as a darker, more glamorous Elizabeth Taylor with a Dolce Vita look from the 50s and 60s.

The collection is clearly romantic, with Gothic touches and styles from the 20th century. The silk blouses, the emphasized shoulders and unique structure lends the collection a style of its own. And the color palette features lots of black.

The Tim Hamilton Aesthetic

A favorite of Fall 2009, Tim Hamilton's continuity of this collection exhibits his growth and attention to a cohesiveness through tailoring, silhouette, shrinking collars and lapels.

The trousers were tailored as narrowly as possible without clinging. Sportswear came in corduroys, stonewashed black denim and lots of tartan, especially Black Watch.
